Tamela T. Prather
As an African American women reared in North Philadelphia, one of the most economically and socially depressed areas of the city, I have observed as well as experienced many of life's hardships.
Throughout my teenage years, I associated with "the wrong crowd" and the results were the classic ones., i.e., truancy, fights, and negative consequences resulting from destructive peer relationships.
Ultimately, after many heartaches and heartbreaks, I became a single mother at 20 years old. It was at this point that I started to want to know about salvation and who this "Savior" was. It was then that John 3:16 became real to me and with this realization I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
After my conversion, realizing education would provide the opportunity to pull myself up out of poverty. I began to pursue higher education receiving an Associate in Applied Science/Behavioral Health Human Service from Community College of Philadelphia. Afterwards, immediately transferred to Geneva College/CUTS in Philadelphia graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Human Service.
Presently, I am a Graduate Student in the Master in Science Christian Counseling Program at Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, Pa. When my program of studies are completed at PBU...I will be a License Professional Counseling.
It is based on this history and these experiences that I have received the call to fulfill the Great Comission. In Matthew 28: 19-20, Jesus charged his disciples to:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..."
Given what you have learned about me, I throughly enjoy empowering youth and young adults. I've inspired numerous people to reach their highest potential and moveforward to achieve their goals. I encourage youth to follow their dreams and stay in school and achieve greater success in their careers and in life. Among other things, I help individuals succeed in their personal lives, improve their realtionships, develop a Christ-like Character, become healthy, achieve financial prosperity, and have more fun in life. With this being said, please contact me if you would like me to share my "story" at your church, school, workshop, conference, etc.
